    First topic message reminder :

The Roomba is typical of commercial robotics in the early 21st century: There is no white-faced Data from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" who would desperately like to learn to whistle. Don't expect chatty C-3POs, intrepid R2-D2s, or killer Terminators. Instead, robots are humble devices that do menial labor, and they're on the verge of becoming household fixtures.

"You're not going to just have a robot in the home that does everything, but you're going to see many forms of robots, just as you don't have a single appliance in your home that washes your dishes, washes your clothes, and cooks your food," Tandy Trower, general manager of Microsoft's robotics group, told an audience at the RoboBusiness conference in Boston in April. "I think you're going to see a variety of robots that are designed for very specialty functions."

Come to think of it, it is really worth one. It's quite affordable if you check at their site. As compared to a maid. And it works 24 hours.

Actually I have a roomba myself and they came out with a rather upgraded version not too long ago.

To give a first hand experience, to have an appliance such as the roomba would be a disgrace to call a robot(or a realistic idea of one).

The Roomba is a simplified machine controlled car, without the machine control. It is no more a miracle than an x-ray machine or a finger print scanner. It is modern technology and has nothing to do with ideas in the future.

Here is something you shouldn't be fooled by:
Myth: The roomba can scan large amounts of dust when it goes over it and identify a path to clean it.

Fact: The Roomba CAN scan large amounts of dust when it goes over it but forms no path, simply rides over the same spot several times until it no longer detects dust.

It's also obnoxiously loud and annoyingly unefficent.

    Hydrogen BMW 7.

The future is here.. Hydrogen propelled cars. zero carbon dioxide emissions.
However, this one uses both, petrol and hydrogen.

The world finally has a future.. hydrogen as fuel..
